By accessing or using Ang Kaalaman ("Platform"), you agree to this Terms & Privacy document. This page combines our platform terms, privacy practices, refund terms, and Google Analytics policy.

If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the Platform.

2. Educational Purpose Only - Not Legal Advice

Important Disclaimer:

Ang Kaalaman is an educational and research platform. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

AI-generated outputs, including chat responses, legal analyses, quizzes, flashcards, and case digests, are drafts for informational, educational, and research use only.

No attorney-client relationship, legal privilege, confidential legal advice, or professional representation is created by using the Platform or by receiving AI-generated content.

You are responsible for verifying legal information with official sources and consulting qualified legal counsel where appropriate.

3. AI Limitations and User Responsibility

Our platform uses AI systems that can produce inaccurate or incomplete outputs.

  • AI may produce errors, outdated statements, or non-existent citations.
  • AI outputs should not be treated as authoritative legal conclusions.
  • You must independently validate outputs before reliance.

4. AI Chat and Case Digest Tools

The Chat and Case Digest tools help users explore legal topics, summarize materials, and draft research notes. They do not replace official sources, professional judgment, or advice from a qualified lawyer.

  • Chat responses, case digests, source cards, citations, linked cases, and generated PDFs are AI-assisted drafts and may contain mistakes, omissions, or outdated information.
  • You must verify citations, linked cases, source cards, retrieved materials, and digests against official court, government, publication, or other authoritative sources before relying on them.
  • When you provide supported source URLs or ask the Platform to retrieve materials, those URLs and related fetched or extracted context may be processed and stored to provide the feature, troubleshoot errors, and maintain service integrity.
  • Chat histories, case digest histories, generated titles, notes, citations, and source details may be saved, searchable, and available in your account history unless deleted or otherwise removed through available account controls.
  • Do not submit confidential, privileged, sensitive, or third-party personal data unless you have the right to do so and accept the processing described in this page.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Platform for unlawful or harmful purposes, including:

  • Violating applicable laws or regulations.
  • Academic dishonesty, plagiarism, or cheating.
  • Abusive, fraudulent, or malicious behavior.
  • Attempting unauthorized access, reverse engineering, or service disruption.

6. Account and Service Operations

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for activity under your account.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access for violations of these terms, security concerns, abuse, or legal compliance requirements.

7. LX Credits and Refund Terms

LX Credits are prepaid digital units used to access eligible AI features.

  • Credits are generally non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • Unused credits do not expire while your account remains active.
  • Charges may vary by model, tier, token use, generation mode, retries, and provider pricing.
  • Displayed LX estimates are estimates unless the Platform explicitly identifies a final charge.
  • Chat sends, regenerations, and premium case digests may deduct LX Credits after successful generation.
  • Stopped, interrupted, or partially completed outputs may be saved without normal completion guarantees, including complete citations, formatting, PDF generation, or source processing.

Refunds may be considered in exceptional cases:

  • Duplicate charge.
  • Payment captured but credits not delivered.
  • Platform-side technical failure preventing credit use for an extended period.

For refund requests, email aljon@stcloud.io within 7 days of transaction date with transaction details and issue description.

8. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account Data: Registration details, login method, and profile information.
  • Usage Data: AI prompts, outputs, chat titles, reasoning or tool steps, citations, retrieved context, source URLs, digest notes, generated digests, generated PDFs, study sessions, and feature interaction data.
  • Transaction Data: LX credit purchases, balances, and usage records.
  • Technical Data: IP address, user agent, browser/device details, request metadata, PDF generation metadata, model and cost metrics, and tool invocation events.

9. How We Use Information

We use personal data to:

  • Provide and improve platform services.
  • Generate, save, retrieve, search, and display chat sessions, case digests, citations, source context, and generated PDFs.
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts.
  • Calculate estimates, deduct LX Credits, process transactions, reconcile usage, and handle related support requests.
  • Operate analytics, abuse prevention, and reliability monitoring.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

10. Legal Basis and Data Rights

We process personal data under lawful bases recognized by applicable law, including consent, contract performance, legitimate interest, and legal obligation.

Subject to applicable law (including the Philippine Data Privacy Act), you may request access, correction, deletion, objection, portability, or other rights by contacting us.

11. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We use third-party providers to operate the service. Content and metadata may be processed by provider categories such as AI model providers, search and retrieval providers, infrastructure providers, analytics providers, authentication providers, storage providers, payment or transaction processors, and security providers as needed to provide services, maintain security, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and meet legal requirements.

We do not sell personal data as part of ordinary Platform operations. Third-party processing is limited to operational purposes and subject to the applicable provider terms, data processing arrangements, or service controls available to us.

12. Data Security and Retention

We implement technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. We retain data only as long as necessary for service delivery, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and legitimate operational needs.

Deleting chat sessions or case digests removes them from active account history where the Platform provides that control. Related logs, LX transactions, model and cost metrics, backups, abuse records, security records, and legally required records may remain for operational, security, accounting, dispute resolution, or compliance purposes.

13. Google Analytics Policy

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) only on selected public pages to understand general usage patterns and improve user experience.

  • GA4 is consent-gated through our cookie banner.
  • No analytics tracking starts until you click Accept.
  • Analytics cookies are optional. You can decline and continue using the site.
  • We configure IP anonymization and disable ad personalization signals.
  • Tracked page path is sanitized and excludes URL query strings.

To withdraw consent after accepting, clear the local preference in your browser storage and choose again when prompted.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ang Kaalaman and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from platform use, inability to use, or reliance on AI-generated content.

15. Updates to This Terms & Privacy Page

We may revise this page from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
