AUSTRALIA

Excellency, I have the honor to refer to the recent discussions held between representatives of the Government of Australia (GOA) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GOP) concerning the request of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) for additional technical assistance under the Philippines- Australia Technical and Vocational Education Project (PATVEP) for the implementation of Competency-Based Vocational Education (CBVE). The Government of Australia, through the Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB), has approved the request for additional technical assistance through the provision of an Australian CBVE Curriculum Advisor for 12 months. This assistance can be financed from the unspent Australian contribution to PATVEP and will not involve additional funding from the GOP counterpart. I therefore propose, as provided under Article 16 of the Project's Memorandum of Understanding, we amend the completion date for the Australian contribution to PATVEP 7 torn 30 June 1994 to 31 December 1995 I would be grateful for your confirmation that the proposed foregoing amendment is acceptable to the Government of the Philippines and that this letter and your letter in reply will constitute the understanding between our two Governments and which will come into effect on the date of your reply. Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

(Sgd.) RICHARD J. SMITH Ambassador Manila 8 August 1994 His Excellency Roberto R. Romulo Secretary of Foreign Affairs Manila
