EQUIVALENT RELATIVE VALUE SCALE (RVS) CODES FOR BONE MARROW HARVESTING AND TRANSPLANTATION
This circular is issued to facilitate correct assignments of Relative Value Units (RVU) for services and procedures performed for bone marrow harvesting and transplantation:
1. Bone marrow harvesting: 20220 Biopsy, bone, trocar, or needle; superficial 45 (e.g. ilium, sternum, spinous process ribs) 2. Bone marrow / stem cell transplant (autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic 36488 Placement of central venous catheter 10 (subclavian, jugular, or other vein) (e.g., for central venous pressure, hyperalimentation, hemodialysis, or chemotherapy); percutaneous or cutdown For your information and guidance.
